In Moscow there was a large premiere of the AIDOL robot – the first Russian humanoid construction powered by artificial intelligence.
The event was to show the technological power of the country. It did, but I don't think it's rather as planned. The robot-celebrita fell on his face and the effort to save his "decentness" only made the situation worse.
Aidol's robot debut was expected to be spectacular. The device swaggered over the phase at the accompaniment of the iconic subject from the movie "Rocky". Unfortunately, that's where the sports emotions ended.
From the beginning, the robot looked like it was "after a dense night" – he shrunk and barely held upright. After a fewer uncertain steps he tried to wave to the audience. It was a mistake. The robot's legs bent, and the full structure with a bang fell on the floor.

That's erstwhile the real comedy started. The staff ran into the stage, trying to cover the fallen robot with a sheet to “save his dignity”. Unfortunately, the sheet became entangled and covered nothing. So the audience could watch AIDOL be unceremoniously pulled off the phase in full swing.
After the collapse, the president of the company (also called AIDOL), Vladimir Wituchin, kept his face. In an interview with the state agency, Tass stated that the robot is inactive “at the learning stage” and added: “I hope this mistake turns into experience.”
Irony adds the fact of what the creators focused on. According to specifications, the robot has an advanced generation of dialogues and emotion recognition, an highly expressive face (19 servomotors) capable of showing 12 emotions and hundreds of microexpressions. As Digital Trends maliciously summed it up, “the squad seems to have focused on the face at the expense of the legs.”
Finally, AIDOL is to work in banks, airports and logistics. We're just hoping he'll have a chair in these places. Meanwhile, companies specified as Boston Dynamics, Figure or Xpeng can sleep peacefully – the competition from the East is inactive there.
