The appearance of “so late” M-46 cannons in the Russian army as a complement to losses in towed artillery is simply a tiny surprise, as despite age they have good tactical and method parameters. The biggest problem in their usage is the ammunition of an different caliber, whose stocks, however, the Russians may inactive own or are able to get it from Iran or North Korea. In terms of importance, M-46 surpasses many types of artillery like the russian Haubice D-20/30, almost equivalent to much more fresh 2A65 Msta-B.
