Alaksandr Lukashenko met with the president of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló on 7 May. The main proposal of the Belarusian side was to contribute to the improvement of agriculture. But Lukashenko is besides willing to meet the demands of the guest in the military-industrial complex.
“We are well aware of the possibilities of your country, your country, your nation. I am certain that you have become acquainted with our capabilities. We're at your disposal. I know that you have a large request to make agriculture. You most likely know very well that in technological and method terms we are able to supply you with adequate support and services. We can be counted on in this regard," quoted Lukashenko in his press service.
The politician added that there are no closed topics in cooperation, and this besides applies to the military-industrial complex.
“We do not have closed cooperation topics. We are ready to communicate in all directions. Including, if you are interested, our military-industrial complex. In short, Belarus is open to you," added Lukashenka., while inviting its interlocutors to visit the National Exhibition Centre to learn about the possibilities of Belarus.
“By the way, next day we open an exhibition of achievements of the Belarusian state in the last 3 or 4 decades. You or your delegation can see it. possibly you'll find something interesting. Even if not everything is demonstrated there, it will be interesting for your country. I know you will visit our leading companies. We will be happy to show samples of our products," said Lukashenko.
Umaro Sissoco Embaló responded to both offers.
“We know that Belarus has large experience not only in the military sphere, but besides in the agri-industrial complex. We would like to benefit from this experience and thus open a kind of door to the future. I am very pleased to work with Belarus, our long-standing partner, with whom we can make economical relations at various levels," said the president of Guinea-Bissau.
Embaló assured that he was pleased with his stay in Belarus and knew this country, including through erstwhile meetings with Lukashenko, as well as common friends from Russia and another post-Soviet countries.
Guinea-Bissau is simply a tiny country in West Africa. Borders with Senegal and Guinea. The size of the country is comparable to the Belarusian regions, and its population is about the same as in the Minsk agglomeration. According to the IMF, the country's GDP is $2.1 billion. In terms of this indicator, the country ranks 170th in the world. For comparison, Belarus ranks 86th.
