If Rafał Trzaskowski wants to win the II circular and halt the disaster, he must halt being only a “reasonable option”. It must become an emotional choice of the young generation – not by populism, but by authentic designation of their language, fears and anger.
What should he do to convince himself of the young people who supported Sławomir Mentzen in I? It must be made clear, – if young, disappointed, cynical or simply rebellious, they will be betting again on absenteeism or folklore, and Karol Nawrocki will win in the second circular – then Poland will enter the way from which it may be very hard to turn back. And it's not gonna be an intellectual debate anymore, it's gonna be a brutal change in the rules of the game.
Rafał Trzaskowski must play differently. Here are circumstantial suggestions:
1. A brave run on the free front. Young Mentzen voters voted for him not due to the fact that they believe in his imagination of the state, but because: they despise the establishment, they hatred bureaucracy, they want no 1 to bother them.
Do what?Announce "the Digital and civilian Freedom Pact" – a real deregulation plan, protection of privacy, elimination of administrative absurdities (e.g. for students, young entrepreneurs).
Invite young libertarians to talk: “I disagree with Mentz, but I hear what you say. I am not the enemy of freedom – I am its guarantor in the real world.”
2. Get off the pedestal and get on TikToka – Young people are not affected by elegance, diplomacy and parliamentary tone. They request to see a man, not a figure.
Do what? To appear in political influencers, but besides in specified people as Krzysztof Gontier, Make Life Harder, or even in types with borderline beaks and publicists.
Show a distance to yourself – for example, mention to the humor of stereotypes about yourself (the Warsaw European from the cafe). In short, zero PR, maximum authenticity.
3. Offer a clear alternate to "mental PRL"Young people do not want a country that tells them how to live, what to think, who to sleep with, what to pray to, and where to pay attention.
Do what? Announce concrete actions to advance the secularity of the state, world-view neutrality and freedom of speech.
Simply say: “If you want a country that spies, gags and asks questions from prayer, vote for Nawrocki. I propose a neutral state that does not look into anyone's bed and pushes itself into a conscience.”
4. Show a imagination of Poland 2035, which makes senseYoung people are cynical due to the fact that they don't believe anyone thinks more than 4 years ahead. Trzaskowski – as the tarot cards showed – has a vision, but must show it in the language of people who will be 30 years old in 2035, not 60.
Do what? Show a digital, climate, educational strategy.Talk about Poland where you can live and gain without moving to Berlin or Dublin.
5. Build a common front against authoritarianismYoung people may be rebels, but they know 1 thing: Nawrocki Poland is simply a state of strength, control and gag. They do not gotta like Trzaskowski – it is adequate that they consider him the last bastion of normality.
Do what? Open up to an informal alliance with all who inform against authoritarian drift. ringing the bell: “It is no longer about left, centre or liberals. The question is whether Poland will be free.”
