TEHERAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Minister for abroad Affairs reported that Parliament president Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and U.S. Vice president J.D. Vance would represent their parties erstwhile signing a memorandum of knowing between Iran and the U.S. in Switzerland in the coming days.
In an interview with journalists on Tuesday, on the margins of the gathering of abroad Minister Abbas Araqchi with Ambassadors and Heads of abroad Missions in Tehran, Majid Takht Ravanchi said that the gathering was an chance to clarify the content of the memorandum of knowing between Iran and the US.
He said the discussions at the gathering focused on the provisions on ending the war and business in Lebanon, rebuilding and compensation for damage. Takht Ravanchi besides said that the memorandum addresses Iran's frozen assets which Tehran considers to be unlawfully blocked and believes they should be made available again.
According to the Deputy abroad Minister, the agreement besides contains provisions on the Strait of Ormuz and the abolition of the blockade, adding that the mitigation of restrictions was 1 of Iran's long-standing demands and had already been started to any degree before signing.
He noted that Switzerland would host the signing ceremony, although the exact place and format of the signing, including whether it would take place electronically, had not yet been established.

TEHERAN (Tasnim) – A fresh phase of negotiations between Iran and the United States will start on the same day that the Memorandum of knowing was formally signed. The next phase aims to scope a final agreement within 60 days, said Iranian abroad Minister Abbas Araqchi.
Speaking on Tuesday at a gathering with the ambassadors, chargés d’affaires and Heads of abroad and global Missions based in Tehran, Araqchi said that difficulties in reaching a comprehensive agreement arose as a consequence of U.S. and Israel's aggression against Iran, prompting both parties to divide the negotiations into 2 stages.
He explained that the first phase focused on ending the imposed war and solving issues related to the Strait of Ormuz, maritime blockade, reconstruction and another issues, and its culmination was the signing of an agreement memorandum.
According to Araqchi, the second phase will begin immediately after signing the memorandum and will last 60 days. During this time, the parties will search to scope a final agreement on atomic issues and mitigate sanctions.
The abroad Minister said that after 3 months of negotiations, which began in parallel with the conflict and continued until 15 June, the first phase was finalized. He added that although the authoritative implementation of the memorandum would begin on Friday, June 19, the announcement of the end of the war had already taken place on Monday morning, and the immediate and permanent cessation of war activities on all fronts, including Lebanon, was identified as the most crucial component of the agreement.
Araqchi said that Iran saw the end of the Lebanon war as an essential component in ending the conflict, arguing that events on both fronts had become interrelated. He stated that from the position of Tehran, the memorandum concerns the United States and the Israeli government on the 1 hand, and Iran and Hezbollah on the other. He added that the end of the Lebanon war would besides require the end of the occupation, and that any future Israeli military action or further presence in Lebanon would be treated as a violation of the memorandum.
Arakchi besides expressed appreciation for Qatar and Pakistan for their efforts to facilitate this process.
