U.S. peculiar Envoy for the mediate East Steve Witkoff in an interview with Fox News stated that he had heard from Vladimir Putin a list of conditions that were essential to halt the war in Ukraine and scope an agreement on the US-Russia line.
Among the conditions listed by Putin is to be a ceasefire [sic!]. He besides returned the subject of the alleged 5 territories, i.e. Russia's occupied regions of Ukraine. Although Witkoff did not uncover the details of the five-hour gathering with Putin, which took place on Friday in St. Petersburg, he besides revealed that the issue of NATO safety protocols, including Article V, was raised.
“It’s about safety protocols, NATO or not, article V, I mean, it’s just, there’s quite a few details involved. This is simply a complicated situation that has its roots in any truly problematic things that happen between the 2 countries,” says the diplomat quoted by PAP.
Let us remind you: Article V of the North Atlantic Treaty states that an attack on any NATO associate is considered an attack on all states of the alliance.
