"Let our protest be a clear signal to the rulers. We're not going to be fooled, we're going to fight until the end of the day - the Prison Service staff at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Justice were chanting. They demanded, among others, increases in wages and housing allowances.

After the demonstration moved towards the Sejm, a delegation of protesters was accepted by Minister Waldemar Żurek, Deputy Minister at the MS office Maria Ejchart - serving in the prison department - and manager General of SW, Colonel Renata Niziolek.

"Minister assured that the government's intention is to transfer the Housing Services Act to the Polish Parliament in the coming weeks" - we read in the Ministry's communication on platform X.

"The housing benefits are not contested and the parties have agreed to further dialogue. We appreciate the effort and dedication of Prison Service officers - we treat their needs with the highest seriousness" - the ministry assured.

The head of Solidarity encourages further protests

Under the Sejm, the president of the "Solidarity" Peter Dudawho urged not to wait for government decisions but to actively protest and fight for better working conditions and wages.

The best example is that they did nothing for six months, and the day before the demonstration they offered you a meeting. He declared support "Solidarity" for all employees, pointing out the request for solidarity between different industries in the fight for common objectives.

The beginning of the conflict between the Ministry of Justice and the trade unions was the failure to implement a common agreement with the trade union party, on the basis of which the amendment of the SW Act introducing a housing allowance for officers and the establishment of an SW modernisation programme for the years 2026-2029, which included, inter alia, the improvement of a housing allowance for officers. Increase in salaries of police officers and civilian servants.

According to the MS communication of September 5, the bill, which the prisons had been waiting for, assuming the introduction of a housing allowance, was included in the list of legislative and programming works of the Council of Ministers. According to the agreement of the Ministry of Justice with the Prison Service trade unions signed on 13 March, the task assumes the introduction of the alleged housing benefit from 900 to 1800 PLNwhose tallness will depend on the place of service.
