President Karol Nawrocki signed a bill that aims to improve sex balance in public companies, but will direct it as a follow-up to the Constitutional Court, according to Thursday's announcement of the Chancellery of the president of Poland.

"President Karol Nawrocki signed the bill due to the values resulting from Article 33 of the Polish Constitution, guaranteeing equality between women and men. The argument in favour of signing the law is besides to search to reduce the injustices faced by women in the labour market," said the President's office today.

She added that the president felt that the bill contained serious legislative errors and would so mention it to the Constitutional Court. "In his view, the rules may violate the freedom of economical activity and the rule of proportionality. They can besides weaken the competitiveness of businesses," she said.
