During the 107th anniversary of regaining independence, president Karol Nawrocki stressed that freedom is not only joy but besides responsibility. He asked what contemporary Poles would do to make the 21st century the century of independence.
The celebrations were traditionally held in Piłsudski Square in Warsaw, with the participation of the highest state authorities. The president presented the General nominations to officers of the Polish Army, police, border and fire brigades, thanking them for their service and stressing that "soldiers and officers are holiness".
In his speech, Nawrocka referred to the fathers of independence, reminding them that despite differences they were able to act for the common good. He warned against losing sovereignty to abroad institutions and “foreign ideologies”, pointing out that Poland should stay faithful to its Christian roots. He besides called for liable usage of the country's economical and political potential.
