During the presidential debate "Super Express", Marek Jakubiak asked Maciej Maciak if he admired Vladimir Putin. Matiak said yes. "Every 1 of us here in Poland could not handle specified pressure" - he noted. According to Matiak, this indicates that Putin "is a very good politician".

During Monday's debate, presidential candidate Marek Jakubiak (Free Republicans) asked the candidate for Maciej Maciak's Prosperity and Peace Movement whether he admired Russian president Vladimir Putin.

"I am a small offended by the fact that people who have forgotten as easy as they have patted their backs on the pier in Sopot credit you with pro-Russianity and even Russian agenthood. And I wanted to ask you - do you realize this, do you know why this is happening?" asked Jakubiak.

Matiak replied that "some moods are produced in society, e.g. anti-Russian". "And therefore, smart politicians effort to play electoral success on this already established anti-Russian view of many Poles. And if they behave later, most likely as usual - that they will not keep all these promises from the campaign" - said Matiak.

Jakubiak asked him about the attitude towards Vladimir Putin. "Do you admire Putin?" the MP asked.

"Yes. Each of us here in Poland would not be able to withstand specified pressure. This shows that he is simply a very good politician" - said Matiak. After these words there was a shout from the "Applause for Putin" room.

"Something incredible"

After his speech, Mr Matiak and his applause were answered by candidate KO Rafał Trzaskowski. "What we just heard is unbelievable. I mean, the minute Putin murders people, murders children, allows rapes in Ukraine, right now applauding Putin, I truly didn't see anything like this erstwhile I was alive. I think that at least in this 1 case we all agree (...)" - said Trzaskowski.

Earlier, Maciej Maciak asked questions to another candidates. Charles Nawrocki, who was supported by the Law and Justice, asked what the encouragement to join the army would look like.

"We have no uncertainty that we want to build a strong modern army, we want to build Poland with strong alliances around the world" - Nawrocki replied.

Stanowski: You are rather a mysterious character

The second question was addressed to the independent candidate Krzysztof Stanowski drawn by the organizers. Matiak asked him, among others, why reporters associated with the Zero Channel he led "are looking for hooks".

"We're looking for information about you, not the hooks, due to the fact that you're rather a mysterious character. I wanted to know who you were. As I asked this question (at the debate in Koński), you were offended and did not answer. Therefore, if you did not say so, we are checking with another people who you are due to the fact that you are rather a mysterious figure" - Stanowski replied. He besides accused Maciak of dealing with a Russian propaganda associate.

"I see you praise how the Russians rebuild Mariupol and set up new, beautiful blocks. I must admit that this is rather curiosity" - Stanowski said.

The 3rd question Matiak asked Simon Holownia. "Why do I get the impression that there is simply a flag on you in Poland?" he asked. As he added, he receives death threats.

"We all receive threats in public life. If you are given threats that you are afraid of, you should study to the appropriate services immediately" - said the Holownia.

Contacts with east regimes

Founder of the Foundation Centre for investigation on Modern Environment Dr. Michał Marek said in mid-April PAP that it is impossible to bring Maciak's activity into the average preaching of views. "We all know that on 24 February 2022 there was a direct aggression on the part of the Russian Federation to Ukraine, which is why negating this fact is not a substance of opinion, but it is simply a lie," Marek emphasized in an interview with PAP.

According to him, Maciak is besides burdened with contacts with the Belarusian station, which has long been conducting actions to depreciate the image of Poland and is utilized to transfer to the Polish infosphere of Belarusian lies. As he emphasised, Maciak gives interviews to the Belarusian disinformation centre, in which activities are involved, among others, Poles cooperating with the Belarusian services – just as erstwhile justice Tomasz Szmydt, who fled Poland and asked the president of Belarus for asylum.

According to the founder of the Information safety Foundation INFO OPS Polska Kamila Basaja, it can be assumed that Russians can effort to usage Maciak's candidacy to test the electoral strategy in Poland in terms of effectiveness of counterintelligence. specified experiments are encouraged by the ongoing geopolitical debate on ensuring our safety in transatlantic relations.
