Romanian Prime Minister Ion-Marcel Ciolacu announced his resignation on Monday (5 May) and the exit of the Social Democratic organization (PSD) from the government coalition. As a reason for his decision, he states the unsuccessful start of a government candidate in the presidential election. During the conference after the gathering of the leadership of the Ciolacu party, he said, "Instead of waiting for the fresh president to cancel me, I decided to leave alone.".
