We powerfully condemn any effort to force the associate States of the European Union to accept illegal immigrants against the will of citizens. Therefore, the Prime Minister of Poland discussed at a gathering of European leaders in Grenada the risks associated with the uncontrolled arrival of migrants, as well as the alternate solutions proposed by Poland. He besides explained that Poles and Poles would be able to talk on illegal immigration in the national referendum on 15 October 2023. The Head of the Polish Government, in addition to attending the informal gathering of the leaders of the European Union, held a number of bilateral meetings, where he stressed the importance of Europe's safety for its citizens.
Illegal and uncontrolled immigration is simply a threat to European citizens







Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki discussed illegal migration at a gathering of European leaders in the Spanish Grenada. This is now 1 of the most crucial issues in Europe. In fresh months, we have been subject to intense migratory pressure. Polish borders are safe and controlled, but any European countries are looking for ways to manage immigration.
– Poland does not agree that individual else will decorate our house. For us, the border is truly our holiness, not our past," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the summit in Grenada.
The head of the Polish government presented Poland's position on illegal migration. He reminded that it was Poland who warned about the hazard of Russian aggression and the energy crisis – we were right. The Prime Minister stressed that it is akin to illegal immigration.
– I warned my colleagues in the European Council here. I must tell you that during the bilateral talks, which I had here very much, I have come to understand. I besides spoke very decisively in the plenary and I decided to veto this part, which afraid migration," said the Prime Minister of Poland.
In our country, Polish citizens will decide on the further direction of migration policy in the referendum on 15 October 2023.
Poland proposes effective solutions for the migration crisis
During the plenary meeting, where the European leaders met, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki vetoed the adoption of common provisions on migration. Poland does not agree with EU proposals for forced relocation of illegal immigrants. At the same time, we are presenting alternate solutions to the migration crisis facing Europe.
– What are these drugs? I presented our five-point plan here. Not only do we, my fellow countrymen, rise the red flag high, saying, “This is an alert, this is an alarm, this is not acceptable”, but we besides present a solution to this problem – said the Prime Minister.
In the Polish plan to improve the protection of Europe against illegal migration, the main points are:
- strengthening the protection of the Union's external borders;
- reducing social benefits for persons who are not citizens of the European Union and do not have peculiar exile position from a war-torn country;
- Fight against smugglers of people and organizations that support them.
Poland effectively protects itself against illegal immigration
During the European Council format gathering in Grenada, the head of the Polish government presented to leaders of another countries how Poland effectively protected itself from illegal immigration – we built a physical and electronic barrier on the border with Belarus and reinforced its protection with additional forces. Since Poland has secured its borders, illegal migration to Europe is now mostly a Balkan route.
The Prime Minister besides explained that in Poland we do not have any social advantages for illegal immigrants, but there are countries in Western Europe that apply this and thus attract more people to Europe.
The informal European summit was an chance for crucial bilateral meetings
An informal gathering of European leaders in the European Council format was held in the Spanish Grenada. In addition to the plenary and working meetings between the Heads of State, the event was besides an chance for many talks and culinary arrangements. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, among others, spoke to the president of the European Parliament, the president of France and the Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Sweden and Italy.
The informal gathering of European leaders in Grenada was culminated by a declaration in which, thanks to the Polish veto, no provisions were adopted that would express the will of forced admission of immigrants.
– I have besides contacted the President, who besides talks on akin topics with European leaders. And I besides informed the president that here, in this declaration from the Council, there will be no migration records, that we do not have our consent to this," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
