Pope Leon XIV appealed for “authentic, just and lasting peace” in Ukraine during the afternoon prayer of Regina Coeli in the Vatican. His father besides stated that an immediate ceasefire was needed in Gaza.
The Pope made an appeal for peace for Ukraine, the release of prisoners and kidnapped children. He besides stressed that he bears in his heart “the suffering of the beloved Ukrainian people.”
Referring to the conflict in the Gaza Strip, the pope pointed out that a ceasefire, humanitarian aid and the release of hostages were needed.
About 100,000 faithful attended the prayer gathering with the Pope.
