Despite apparent wellness problems, Francis appeared in public, which met with large interest and emotion of the faithful. The Pope had a nasal cannula to administer oxygen, but nevertheless he spoke briefly to the gathered: “Good Sunday for all, thank you very much” – he said what happened to applause and tears of emotion.
It is estimated that about 5 1000 believers gathered in St Peter's Square, who greeted the pope with applause and shouts. Among the crowd there were tears of emotion, as well as Polish flags, which floated over the heads of the faithful. This was a clear sign of Poles' presence in the Vatican who came to participate in this unique event.

In 2015, he published an encyclical “Laudato si” in which he calls for a change in lifestyle and care of the planet. His actions in this area were recognised by the global community and environmental experts.
In Poland, Pope Francis enjoys large respect and recognition. According to the polls, over 70% of Poles consider the pope to be a prominent leader and spiritual guide. His visit to Poland in 2016 was a large event that attracted thousands of faithful and tourists.
