The EU trade agreement with Mercosur has been controversial for a long time among EU countries with large agricultural production. The Minister of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski, who presides over the gathering of the heads of agricultural departments in Luxembourg, stated that an agreement with the Mercosur countries could only be accepted if peculiar protective mechanisms were created to guarantee the stableness of the agricultural marketplace in the EU.
