Poland expressed solidarity with the UK, which imposed sanctions on more than 20 Russian spies and hackers for cyber attacks on European governments. The Ministry of abroad Affairs stressed that the scope of Russian cyber attacks in Poland and Europe has grown since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. Authorities inform against multidimensional threats from Russia that go beyond cyberspace.
The abroad Ministry released a message on Friday expressing support for British sanctions. London imposed restrictions on 3 units of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU) and their officers in consequence to operations in cyberspace.
"Our position on this issue is expressed in EU and NATO statements" - stressed the Polish Ministry of abroad Affairs. The hotel pointed out that the scope and strength of Russian cyber attacks in Poland and Europe has been increasing in fresh years, especially after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.
Condemnation of malignant actions
"We powerfully condemn malicious actions in cyberspace that conflict with the framework of liable behaviour of states in cyberspace, established by the United Nations and supported by all UN associate States" - stated the Polish Ministry of abroad Affairs.
The MFA indicated that threats to Poland and Europe are not limited to cyberspace. Active sabotage operations, threats to critical infrastructure, GPS jamming, deliberate airspace breach, misinformation and artificially created migration flows were listed.
Building digital resilience
In consequence to threats from Russia, Poland actively builds digital resilience through the improvement of Cyberspace defence Army, global cooperation, public education and the modernisation of critical infrastructure.
Deputy Prime Minister, Digital Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski stressed on platform X that "the digital war with Russia has been going on for months, but besides global cooperation in cybersecurity brings results!". The names of GRU officers associated with the APT-28 group were disclosed, leading actions to destabilise the situation and hit the capabilities of the fighting Ukraine by allies.
Sanctions on Russian agents
The UK authorities imposed fresh sanctions on over 20 Russian spies, hackers and intelligence units accused of cyber operations threatening the stableness of Europe on Friday. The British MFA reported sanctions on 3 units of Russian military intelligence GRU and 18 officers.
One of the sanctioned units conducted online reconnaissance at Russian strikes on Mariupol in 2022, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of Ukrainian women and children protecting themselves in the theatre building.
