Poland will receive millions of euros from the European Union. That's the phrase for the weapons transferred to Ukraine. A breakthrough in the case was announced on Tuesday by Helen McEntee, Minister of abroad Affairs and Defence of Ireland. Paweł Zalewski, Deputy Minister of National Defence, announced that the money would go to Poland next year.

Decision Instrument for Peace (EPF) fell during the Tuesday informal gathering of the defence ministers of the European Union countries in Newtownmountkennedy, Ireland holding the EU Presidency in this six months. The EPF financed returns for weapons transferred to Ukraine from associate States' own resources.
Weapons for Ukraine. Poland will get millions of euros back
The instrument blocked Hungary under Viktor Orban for 2 years. After his failure in the last parliamentary election, nothing has changed either. Countries could not scope an agreement on the allocation of money. In the end, however, a compromise has been reached.

- I'm sorry. It seems that Most associate States are ready to compromiseto unlock 6.6 billion euros of support for Ukraine," said Helen McEntee after the meeting. As the gathering was informal, a binding decision could not be taken. However, the Minister is convinced that the agreement will be reached in Brussels in the coming days.
Compromise of EU countries. "Should be achieved"
The gathering was attended by Deputy Head of the MON Paweł Zalewski. "We have already received a refund of EUR 830 million for arms transferred to Ukraine and the agreement is now that we will receive EUR 400 million next year" he said.

Paweł Zalewski added that the European Commission has prepared 2 options. Depending on which will be adopted, Poland will receive 10 to 30 million euro. "We believe that, from the point of view of the seriousness of European policy and the ability to agree and cooperate, the compromise should be achieved," he said.
The EPF is an EU fund that operates outside the EU budget. Its aim is to finance efforts to keep global peace and security. In 2022, the Union decided to bring the money to Ukraine after Russia attacked it. The funds were transferred indirectly - associate States received a refund after they delivered arms, ammunition and military equipment.
