So far, it has seemed that the territorial dispute over Greenland between Denmark and the United States is very far away. Another light on this issue was cast by 1 of the organization leaders Together Adrian Zandberg, who estimated that there was a "deadly threat" to us. The leftist politician warned that the duties which the president of the United States threatened the countries sending soldiers to the Arctic island will besides hit Poland.
Between Denmark and the United States, there is simply a dispute over who is to proceed to regulation over the largest island in the world. I only have a fewer tens of thousands of people, but her location makes her very valuable. Between Greenland and the northern coast of Russia, there is simply a trade way called the Transpolar Maritime Road. There are besides natural materials – oil and natural gas, uncommon earth metals, as well as another valuable minerals.
U.S. president Donald Trump has been signaling for months his intention to "get" Greenland by buying it or, as he himself stated, "in a more hard way". The American leader did not regulation out the usage of force. As the main argument of the intention to take over the Danish colony Trump indicates Denmark's alleged inability to defend the island from the Russians or Chinese, who, due to Greenland's strategical location, might want to take over it in the future.
Zandberg: Poland will feel the consequences of Trump's duties in relation to Greenland
In fresh days, European capitals have directed respective twelve soldiers to the island to prove, among others, to Trump that Europe is capable of defending Greenland. However, this was met with the discontent of the president of the United States, who announced the introduction of additional duties on 8 countries sending their military contingents to the Arctic island. According to Adrian Zandberg, Poland should halt being passive to the pressures of America.
"Poland in Greenland should respond in accordance with our obligations and fundamental interest. And the fundamental interest of Poland is that the rule of inviolability of national borders should be respected and respected" - he said in the programme "Graffiti" on Monday.
"This is simply a deadly threat to Poland if we accept it as average that 1 or another power can tell another country: give me your territory. For us in Poland this is simply a deadly threat, if we accept it as average that it is not global law that governs, but bare force. And this is the situation we are in today," added organization leader Together.
Zandberg besides stressed that, in his opinion, the duties announced by the US to European countries sending soldiers to Greenland, although not including Poland, will besides affect our country.
"If individual assumes that the fact that Poland is not indicated in the list of countries subject to duties will not mean consequences for our economy, he is either naive or he does not realize how trade agreements work," he said.
