Polish chips getting closer? Superlab opens, but no government decision yet

A state-of-the-art microelectronics and photonics laboratory has been opened at the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies at the Warsaw University of Technology. This is another step toward building the capabilities needed to launch a semiconductor production line in Poland, which could find applications in the defence industry, among others. Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski spoke during the beginning about manufacturing home microprocessors. However, the government has not yet finalized decisions regarding the next phase of the investment, which is intended to be 1 of the cornerstones of the country’s technological sovereignty.
