Polish citizens from Sumud humanitarian fleet landed safely at Chopin airport in Warsaw. The activists were previously detained by the Israeli Navy and deported from Israel.
Poles were in a group of over 470 people from 47 countries participating in the Global Sumud Fleet (GSF). The humanitarian convoy was intercepted last week from Wednesday on Thursday in global waters by the Israeli Navy.
Acquisition of fleets and deportations
The Israeli forces took over 42 ships, and their crews were brought to Israel, where they were detained and deported. Omar Faris, Franciszek Bird and Krzysztof Sterczewski were deported to Athens on Monday.
Magdalena Jasiewicz, who has British citizenship, left Israel earlier. Following the arrival at Chopin Airport in Warsaw, the president of the Polish delegation Omar Faris said that we must all be together against the genocide war in the Gaza Strip.
Reports from the Israeli Prison
Faris described violent treatment while in Israeli prison. "They treated us absolutely brutally. For respective hours, I am 73 years old, tied my hands backwards and put stones" - he reported on the press briefing.
According to Faris, activists were asked, among another things, about their relation with Hamas during an Israeli prison hearing. "Our problem is the business which began 42 years before the Hamas uprising" - emphasised the activist.
Faris called for a peaceful solution to the conflict. "We want a solution, like in South Africa, a democratic state for everyone" - added the president of the Polish delegation.
