Poles are not as willing to aid Ukrainians as they were a fewer years ago. According to the latest CBOS survey, most of our country's citizens believe that aid to refugees from Ukraine is greater than it should be. More than half of the respondents besides believe that social benefits should be granted only to Ukrainians who work and pay taxes in Poland.

Since the mediate of 2023, the attitude of Poles to aid refugees from Ukraine has steadily deteriorated. Trend confirms another CBOS poll. The percent of respondents who support the admission of refugees from Ukraine has been lowest since the studio has been monitoring this issue, which is since Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014. At the same time, the share of opponents, which is already 45 percent, is increasing.

Women little favourably receiving refugees from Ukraine than men; the youngest far more skeptical than the oldest

Interestingly, if we look at the results of the CBOS survey broken down by individual groups of respondents, more men (52%) support the admission of refugees and refugees from Ukraine to our country than women (43%). The gap is even greater between the young and older researches – the reception of refugees is approved by 21% of the youngest and 51% of the oldest. The distribution is inversely proportional in agrarian and urban areas. In cities 64% support the reception of refugees, and in agrarian areas, only 36% of respondents likewise declare.

What about benefits – including 800 plus and wellness care – to Ukrainians who are already in our country? Most Poles (58%) believe that they should benefit only those who work and pay taxes in Poland. According to 1 4th of the surveyed benefits should only be granted to refugees who are legitimized, and 8% of respondents believe that Ukrainians should not be entitled to benefits at all.

The survey was carried out from 11 to 22 September 2025 on a example of 969 people by CATI, CAPI and CAWI methods.
