In 2024 companies belonging to the Polish Armed Forces Group received orders from the Ministry of National Defence worth over PLN 48 billion. This year's purchases of equipment and armaments for the Polish Army will include fresh tanks, wheeled armored transporters and combat infantry wagons – Deputy Minister of Defence Paweł Bejda informed MPs.
At the request of Members of the Parliament of the National Defence Commission of the Ministry of State Acts, The Ministry of National Defence and the Polish Armed Forces Group provided parliamentarians with information on the functioning and improvement plans of the national holding.
The first talker was the typical of the Ministry supervising the PGZ on behalf of the Treasury. Robert Kropiwnicki, Deputy Minister of State Assets, stressed that a holding of almost 70 companies is in good financial position and its products are valued by both Polish military and another uniformed services as well as by users from another countries. He pointed out that in fresh months, the Ministry of State Acts has focused peculiarly on activities aimed at importantly expanding the production capacity of PGZ-et for the ‘Narew’ programme, the anti-aircraft defence and short-range rocket defence system. For this purpose, the Deputy Minister declared that the ‘large amounts’ of backing would be transferred to the PGZ-et.
He gave detailed information on the substance to the Sejm committee Krzysztof Trofiniak, president of the Polish Armed Forces Group. He declared that the holding intends to invest in the coming years a evidence amount. – Our core business includes 27 companies. 13 of them, or almost half of them, already participate in investments or have submitted proposals which will consequence in investments of PLN 11 billion. most likely already in the first 4th of this year this amount will increase by at least PLN 4 billion – explained Krzysztof Trofiniak.
From ammunition to Nida
The president of the PGZ-et informed Members that the current Management Board of the Group, although intending to implement the strategy for the improvement of the holding adopted in 2023, introduced many crucial modifications to it. “We have reviewed our strategy and identified 4 main areas of our activity that we believe request to improve and introduce fresh regulations,” he said. As the first area indicated the management of companies forming PGZ. – We should complete the restructuring phase and think about how logically and decently to make our production capacity as well as creatively – he commented.
According to Krzysztof Trofiniak, the area of PGZ-et activity, which needs to be reacted as rapidly as possible, is the production of ammunition. This has been our problem for many, many years. Both to meet needs, production capacity and fresh technologies. In the next 2 or 3 years We would truly like to make the production of ammunition very much.. specified a standard example is the 155 mm ammunition production program. We would like to make it to 150 1000 rounds a year – declared the president of the PGZ-et.
In the coming years, the Polish Armed Forces Group besides intends to make the production of various types of land platforms. According to the president of Trofiniak, the future of the Group is not only automobile vehicles – like various types of trucks produced by Jelcza, but besides late Autosan, cars and passenger-terrestrial vehicles 4 × 4 Legwan and Waran (produced by Rosomak SA and Huta Stalowa Wola). Krzysztof Trofiniak stressed that presently a large part of the orders for land platforms are specialised vehicles (e.g. command wagons, ammunition trucks) in PGZ companies for the rocket artillery systems Langusta, lobster-A (HIMARS), lobster-K (Chunmoo) and for the cannon-haubic Crab and K9 caliber 155 mm. As the CEO of PGZ-etu argued, vehicles can be a very desirable export product. – Ours vehicle Baobab-K, late ordered by the Polish army, raises very large interest not only in neighbouring states, the Baltics, but besides in France – he admitted. At the same time he added that the Americans had already contracted 8 manufactured by Huta Stalowa Wola strategy launcher Patriotwhich they want to offer to their abroad customers.
Presenting the improvement plans of PGZ-etu, the company president stressed that despite the complications in the programme concerning Unmanned with code name ‘Orlik’ The group inactive wants to produce drones. In the Military Aviation Plant No. 2 in Bydgoszcz the centre of competence is to be created for this task. The project, which will be handled by the Centre after the launch of the production of the Orliks, will be a Polish impact drone codenamed “Nida”.
Large orders
The MON plans for PGZ-et were presented by Deputy Minister Paweł Bejda to Members. He emphasized that in 2024 contracts with a full value of over PLN 48 billion were awarded to companies from the Group. As he declared, this year the order scale will be equally high. – More crucial contracts planned for 2025, for which the Polish Armed Forces Group may be the contractor, are the arms strategy contract K2PL [polonized version of Korean tank] ed. 9 executive contracts for anti-aircraft short-range Narew rocket kits, including passive location radars, optoelectronic sensors, masking elements.
