The hold in the EU-Mercosur agreement is dissatisfied with Berlin

On 21 January, the European Parliament decided to mention the EU-Mercosur trade agreement to the Court of Justice of the EU (TEU) in order to examine its compatibility with the Treaty provisions of the Union. Of the German MEPs, 35 Members voted for this – primarily from the Green Groups, Die Linke and AfD – and 54 Members (mainly for the leadership and social democrats) voted against.
