Olympic Picnic: Departure from the capital and a fresh installment in Lublin

For over a 4th of a century, the Olympic Picnic has been organized in Warsaw, in the Potock Kępa Park, where many Polish sports champions meet each year and get to know many sports. However, this year's edition – no longer 26th – will be held in the capital. Through an agreement between the Polish Olympic Committee (POL) and Lublin Voivodeship, the Olympic Picnic moves to Lublin.

The Lublin Voivodeship decided to aid the PKOl, which is in the financial crisis, as much as PLN 4.3 million for only a fewer months of cooperation. This support is intended to aid the committee organize various events, including the Olympic Picnic. Jarosław Stawiarski, Marshal of Lublin Voivodeship, helped a friend, Radosław Piesiewicz, president of PKOl, to get this help.

In February this year, PKOl informed that under the agreement with Lublin Voivodeship, Poland will be represented at the 17th European Youth Festival Bakuriani 2025 in Georgia and at the action "Year to XXV of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics". Now we know that it was already clear that the Olympic Picnic would hit Lublin.

– Piknik in Lublin Voivodeship is 1 of the benefits we have recorded in the contract with the voivodship. So, from the beginning, his organization was planned in this region, we were only looking for a convenient place for this organization – comments Katarzyna Kochaniak-Roman, press spokesperson and manager of the Marketing and Communication Department in PKOl.

This year, the 26th Olympic Picnic will be held in Lublin, 15 June. The place of Picnic will be the membranes under the Lublin Castle. It is an attractive area in the city centre, better than the 1 considered by Janów Lubelski, to which he is from Warsaw even further away. The Olympic community is dissatisfied with the picnic decision from the capital.

The Olympic Picnic has been held in Warsaw since 1999 and we hear assurances that besides this year the PKOl would easy add all details with the authorities of Żoliborz. The first Olympic Picnic was held in 1999 in Warsaw Agricola, and since 2006 their home has always been Park Kępa Potocka due to the change of the seat of PKOl.

It is worth noting that the Olympic Picnic already has its recognized brand and is simply a organization with which we as PKOl want to go to another places. – Olympic picnics were held outside Warsaw, but additional, for example winter. Unfortunately, as we hear, the organisation of 2 picnics – this departure, Lublin, resulting from the fresh commitments of the committee, and this conventional Warsaw, PKOl cannot afford.
