On 13 April we celebrate the Memorial Day of the Victims of Katyń Crime.
The Polish paper Club OLSZTYN organised a commemoration of these tragic, bloody events in our history. We met at the Column of the White Eagle in the Polish Consulate Square.
Katyń Crime – a crime committed by the NKVD by shooting nearly 22 1000 Polish citizens in the spring of 1940. The crime has, in accordance with the resolution of the Polish Parliament, the signs of genocide and is qualified as a war crime, a crime against humanity, a crime against peace and a communist crime.
On behalf of the Polish paper Club OLSZTYN, flowers were deposited by the Members at the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Iwona Arent, Delegate to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, together with a delegation. Complex flowers were accompanied by lit candles, as a symbol of the Kagan of National Memory, present and future generations.
Special attention should be paid to the publication from the Weekly Gazeta Polska (is published periodically, all Wednesday), entitled KATYŃSKI'S LAW, by the head of the section history, editor Tomasz Łysiak.
It turns out that the burial sites were not discovered by Germany, only they made public this bloody tragedy of our Nation. Already “someone”, most likely local and/or slave-employed Poles in Todt's organization have placed there, birch crosses, specified as they meet on soldiers' graves.
