More than 50 soldiers of the 15th Giżycka Armed Brigade take part in training at Huta Stalowa Wola with the service of combat infantry (BWP) Borsuk. This is another training cycle with the participation of the Wiszachów, who have been preparing for over 2 years to take over the long-awaited successor of the long-awaited russian BWP-1.

– This year, I will be the first in the armed forces to have a full company equipped with Borsuk combat infantry wagons, considered the best specified vehicles in the world. We already have respective trained crews and now we are waiting for wagons to be at our place and we will begin preparing for their service for further soldiers – said Brig. Gen. Mirosław Spurek, commander of the 15th Giżycka Mechanized Brigade.

Capt. Małgorzata Misiukiewicz, press officer of 15 BZ, confirms that the next soldiers of the Gżycka brigade are presently conducting training at Huta Stalowa Wola, the office of the maker BWP Borsuk. A vehicle intended to replace russian construction in the Polish army BWP-1 has already been tested by the Wiszeks in 2022 at a training ground in Orzysz. In addition, it was the soldiers from Giżycka who served the Badgers who participated in the Polish Military Festival parade in Warsaw.

Let us remind you that in March, the Armed Forces Agency concluded with a consortium consisting of Polish Armed Forces Group SA and Huta Stalowa Wola SA. executive contract for the transportation of 111 combat Badger Infantry Vehicles from 2025 to 2029. The value of the contract is approx. PLN 6.57 billion and in addition to the transportation of vehicles includes a training and logistics package, the improvement of method documentation for mass production, the improvement of the Commission's Programme for Publishing and Receiving investigation and conducting these studies.

– In December there will be a conviction of the Badgers to the contractor. This year, we are passing 15 cars, next three, and the following years are 33 and 55 – late revealed Agnieszka Czuba-Pytlos, task manager at Huta Stalowa Wola SA.

The conclusion of the executive agreement on Borsuki follows the signing of the framework agreement in 2023, which laid down the terms and conditions for the conclusion of the individual implementing agreements relating to the supply of combat vehicles and the full household of specialised caterpillar vehicles based on the universal modular caterpillar platform (UMPG) for the Polish Armed Forces.

The BWP Borsuk is equipped with a remotely controlled tower strategy (ZSSW-30). It can combat infantry, armored vehicles, air targets and another objects utilized by the opponent in all weather conditions and at any time. The vehicle is characterised by its advanced mobility and ability to overcome terrain obstacles, and as the only fighting infantry vehicle in Europe, it is able to overcome wide water obstacles without preparation. The crew are 3 persons: the commander, the arms operator and the driver. Badgers can transport six soldiers around the battlefield. Its task is besides to defend the crew and carried military personnel from the firing of firearms and anti-tank grenade launchers and the effects of explosions of improvised explosives.
