Thousands have been withdrawn since May. German government discloses data

Since the beginning of May, the German police have prevented 7 1000 people from entering the country. This data relates to all the land borders of Germany.


From the beginning of May to the beginning of July this year at land borders Almost 7,000 people were withdrawn from Germany with all neighbouring countries. This is the consequence of the government's consequence in Berlin to the Parliament's intervention by the right-wing populist organization AfD.

Throughout 2024, it was 45400 people.

The government reported that precisely 6948 people were returned during increased checks between 8 May and 9 July, even though they did not have a valid travel paper or residence permit. It was not specified how many people were sent from which border.

Germany borders Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic and Poland.

The number of 6948 besides covers cases of border transfers of persons who signalled to the police the request to apply for asylum in Germany. There were 311 cases like this.

The fresh government has tightened the course


Shortly after the change of government in Germany, the fresh Home Minister Alexander Dobrindt issued a regulation that allows asylum seekers to be withdrawn for the first time. Exceptions are provided only for people in highly hard situations, specified as pregnant women or children.

This practice raises serious legal controversy, respective cases have already been brought before the courts.

According to DPA, increased border controls have caused discontent among the European neighbours of Germany, for example in Poland, where there are concerns that asylum seekers can be rejected at the German border and sent there on a large scale.

When asked about the impact this had on relations with neighbouring countries, the German government stated that cooperation is inactive constructive and objective-oriented and that negative effects have not yet been observed.
