About 12,000 m2, 12 stations equipped with specialized diagnostic and repair equipment, a shotgun, a paint mill or a car wash – in the 18th Logistics Regiment in Łomża a modern renovation hall was commissioned. It will service Abrams and Leopard tanks, Rosomak transporters or infantry wagons. “This is simply a milestone in the modernization of the Polish Army,” says Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Today in 18th Logistics Regiment in Lomża – 4 years after the shovel was inserted – a fresh renovation hall was opened. "It is simply a milestone in the modernization of the Polish Army. The facility, along with a modern paint plant, a dynamometer, a shotgun and a car wash, is 1 of the most advanced repair and maintenance investments in the Polish army. The fresh hall will be the heart of logistical support for 18th Mechanized Division, allowing professional maintenance and renovation of state-of-the-art equipment, Abrams tanks, cannonohaubic or trucks," wrote Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish in a letter addressed to soldiers, which he read during the ceremony by Deputy Minister Paweł Bejda.
The investment cost PLN 186 million. – This is well spent money – said Deputy Minister Bejda, stressing that without logistics in the military there would be no efficient army and efficient equipment, that is the safety of the country. Colonel Paweł Gałązka, commander of the 18th Logistics Regiment, estimated that this is an highly crucial investment, due to the fact that its aim is to operate, repair and service military equipment.
The fresh hall houses 12 posts. 8 are equipped with lifts, and the others in the vehicle inspection and repair channels. Workshops have highly specialized equipment needed to check and diagnose weapons and military machinery. There are besides workshops of artillery equipment, repair station for engines and components, repair station for communication or optical-night imagination equipment. In the main hall there is besides a bridge crane with a capacity of 40 t. The four-storey building besides houses the warehouse, office, training and social facilities.
According to Colonel Gałązka, the fresh site of the repair battalion 18th Regiment in Lomża is simply a key component of the logistics infrastructure of the Polish armed forces. It increases the ability to keep equipment, improves the quality and pace of maintenance. The hall will service to repair and operate military equipment, which is equipped with 18 DZ and another units in its area of operation.
