Russia's long-range air force carried out further rocket attacks in Ukraine on the night of 18 to 19 August. Poland immediately reacted by launching all defence procedures to safe airspace.

"On the night of 18 to 19 August 2025, the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation one more time began rocket attacks on Ukraine's territory. In order to guarantee the safety of the Polish airspace, the Operational Command of the RFA has launched all essential procedures. The operation began with Polish and allied aircraft, and ground-based air defence and radio-location systems reached a state of highest readiness" - Mr Dorsz said.

Preventive defence actions

"These actions are preventive in nature and are aimed at securing airspace and protecting citizens, especially in areas adjacent to the threatened area. The Operational Command of the RSZ monitors the current situation and the subordinate forces and resources stay in full readiness to respond immediately" - added the Operations Command of the RSZ.

Polish defence procedures were launched as part of NATO's alliance commitments. Actions include full coordination with allies and real-time monitoring.

International context

Russian attacks coincided with ongoing peace talks in the White House, as reported by fact.pl. This underlines the contradiction in Moscow's approach to peace negotiations.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed coordination with European allies on safety guarantees for Ukraine, according to fact.pl. Russia was first to recognise Ukraine's right to enter into safety alliances with another countries.
