For months now, the Migration Pact has been 1 of the European Commission's more widely commented plans. Poland and Slovakia and Hungary opposed the forced relocation of migrants, but these voices were not adequate to halt work at Community level. However, there has now been unofficial information that our country can avoid the request to accept migrants and the work to pay penalties for this.
The migration pact will bypass Poland? Unofficially, we can owe this to Ukrainians
On Saturday 11 October, RMF24 informed about Poland's possible exemption from the compulsory admission of migrants. According to the findings of their journalists, by accepting a large number of war refugees from Ukraine, as well as migration force on the border with Belarus, we may not be covered by the provisions of "mandatory solidarity".
“Poland should be included in a group of countries that will not be burdened with relocation or financial contributions,” said 1 of the interviewors at a gathering in Brussels. Another added that Poland could be considered a country "under migration pressure", and that would give us additional benefits.
If this unofficial information were confirmed, Poland would not only not accept migrants and would be exempt from the work to pay €20,000 for any case of refusal. We could besides number on financial support as a country "under migration pressure". However, it should be stressed that the information obtained in Brussels was not confirmed by the individual close to the Polish government.
Poland does not want to accept migrants. The decision will be made in the coming days
Shortly after the adoption of the migration pact, Prime Minister Donald Tusk assured that our country would not accept illegal migrants. From that minute on, talks were held to show how much function we played by accepting Ukrainian refugees and what the fight against the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border looks like.
We will learn about these actions in the coming days. The European Commission should notify the details of the relocation by Wednesday 15 October. Then we will besides find out what the plan for Poland is. However, let us add that the decision of the EC will not be binding.
Its findings will be put to the vote of the EU Council. It will decide by qualified majority the future of the migration pact. His provisions are to enter into force in mid-2026.
