With large joy and pride we received the information that Jerzy Buzek, president of the Programme Council of the Foundation The European Fund for agrarian improvement of Poland, was honoured with the title of Honorary associate of the European Order of Merit.
This discrimination has been awarded ten prominent people who have earned European integration and the improvement of cooperation on the continent. The winners were prof. Jerzy Buzek, whose long-term public and European activities were thus peculiarly appreciated.
The list of winners was announced in Strasbourg on Tuesday. The decision was taken by a peculiar committee composed of: the current president of the European Parliament Robert Metsol, Vice-President of the European Parliament Sophie Wilmès and Eva Kopaczand erstwhile EU Commissioner Michel Barnier, erstwhile president of the European Commission The PresidentFormer EU advanced typical for abroad Affairs Josep Borrell and erstwhile Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta.
Professor Jerzy Buzek is 1 of the most crucial figures in the contemporary past of Poland and Europe – the erstwhile Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland and a longtime associate of the European Parliament. From 2009 to 2012, he served as president of the European Parliament as the first politician from Central and east Europe in this position, symbolically highlighting the increasing function of the fresh associate States in shaping the future of the European Union.
For decades, he has consistently worked towards European integration, economical development, energy safety and strengthening cooperation between European countries. His political, technological and social achievements are an crucial contribution to building a strong and solidarity-based European community.
