National Memorial Day “Cursed Soldiers” - a program of celebrations

The National Day of Memory of the Cursed Soldiers is March 1. This is simply a symbolic date – on that day in the Mokotowski prison in Warsaw, the members of the 4th Board of the Main Association “Freedom and Independence” were shot in the back of the head by the communists – the president of WiN Łukasz Ciepliński (“Plug”, “Ludwik”) and his closest colleagues: Adam Lazarowicz, Mieczysław Kawalec, Józef Rzepka, Franciszek Błażej, Józef Batory and Karol Chmiel.

Their bodies were buried in an unknown place. They were the last leadership of the last nationwide organization continuing the AK tradition since 1945. They were arrested from November 1947 to February 1948. They went through an highly barbaric investigation.
The state festival, as a tribute to soldiers of the second conspiracy, was established by the Sejm on 3 February 2011. The communist communities, many patriotic organizations, technological associations, friends and families of those who died in the fight, were murdered in communist prisons, or had just gone to the eternal guard, had been knocking on many doors for years, demanding that Poland yet pay tribute to its best Sons. For years, the answer was silence.
In the second half of the first decade of the 21st century, hopes began to come true. The Appels of the Kombatant communities began to gain expanding support. Janusz Kurtyka, the president of the IPN since the end of 2005, gave these efforts a strong impulse and acceleration. Prof. Lech Kaczyński supported the initiative.
The Institute of National Memory honors Non-violent Soldiers, participating in state ceremonies and organizing many projects throughout Poland. We invitation you to participate in events.
The most crucial plans for the celebration of the National Day of Memory “Cursed Soldiers” were presented on 12 February 2026 during a press conference attended by Deputy president of the National Academy of Sciences Dr. Karol Polejowski, manager of the Museum of Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the People's Republic of Poland Adrianna Garnik and the typical of the Social Committee of the National Day of Remembrance of the Soldiers of Cursed Teresa Brykczyńska.

The state festival, as a tribute to soldiers of the second conspiracy, was established by the Sejm on 3 February 2011. The communist communities, many patriotic organizations, technological associations, friends and families of those who died in the fight, were murdered in communist prisons, or had just gone to the eternal guard, had been knocking on many doors for years, demanding that Poland yet pay tribute to its best Sons. For years, the answer was silence.
In the second half of the first decade of the 21st century, hopes began to come true. The Appels of the Kombatant communities began to gain expanding support. Janusz Kurtyka, the president of the IPN since the end of 2005, gave these efforts a strong impulse and acceleration. Prof. Lech Kaczyński supported the initiative.
The Institute of National Memory honors Non-violent Soldiers, participating in state ceremonies and organizing many projects throughout Poland. We invitation you to participate in events.
The most crucial plans for the celebration of the National Day of Memory “Cursed Soldiers” were presented on 12 February 2026 during a press conference attended by Deputy president of the National Academy of Sciences Dr. Karol Polejowski, manager of the Museum of Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the People's Republic of Poland Adrianna Garnik and the typical of the Social Committee of the National Day of Remembrance of the Soldiers of Cursed Teresa Brykczyńska.
