N-butane is simply a colourless and odourless gas that has not yet been on the Russian sanction list. This allowed partial circumvention of sanctions. "Today we are telling this process stop" - stressed Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyka, quoted in the ministry's message. It was on the initiative of the Polish side that the prohibition clause was included in the draft 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia.
