Wiesław Kukuła, head of the SGWP, during the appeal on the occasion of the Feast of the Operational Command of Types of Armed Forces. DORSZ, liable for commanding soldiers forming Polish military contingents, celebrates the 21st anniversary of its creation.

“Operational Command of Armed Forces Types is simply a network of people, competences and responsibilities extended from the Polish-Belarusian border to Polish military contingents in 10 places in the world, from Gdynia to Kraków, from combat positions to command centers”, said Gen. Maciej Klisz, the operational commander of the RSZ present in Warsaw, during a solemn appeal on the occasion of the festival of DORSZ. As the General stressed, the power of command lies not only in equipment, but besides in people, in leadership, in trust and competence, and in acting together as a team.
– The planet around us is becoming more and more restless, the war is not only where the arrows fall. Today the battlefield is cyberspace, critical infrastructure, information space, morale of soldiers or social media, that is why we request to be faster than a threat, smarter than provocation and stronger than fear – stressed the operating commander and thanked the soldiers and workers for their efforts and perseverance.

On the occasion of the festival, the Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz directed his word to the participants of the ceremony. "Operational Command is not only the coordination of the activities of the Polish Army in Poland and abroad, it is above all the command, operation of forces and resources available to our homeland to defend our country's people and defender our borders" – he wrote Deputy Prime Minister in a letter read by General Wiesław Kukuła, Head of the General Staff of the Polish Army.

The head of the MON stressed that DORSZ is an excellent Polish business card in the framework of cooperation abroad and added that the protection of borders, especially sea borders and air, requires the utmost readiness and caution. "The line is easy to cross, and you stand defender so that Poland is safe and Poles live in peace," said the minister.

General Kukuł besides addressed the participants of the appeal. “Operational Command of the RSZ is the heart of the operational command system,” he said. He besides added that the current geopolitical situation requires flexibility, resilience and interaction of armed forces in all domains. "It is you who are the key link in integrating the operational capabilities of all types of armed forces in a single, coherent system," stressed the Chief of Staff.

The ceremony ended with awards and distinctions to soldiers and command staff. As part of the celebrations in the morning, the Mass was celebrated in the church of Our woman of Ostrobramska in Bemów for soldiers and workers of DORSZ. Gen. Klisz laid flowers before the obelisk dedicated to the patron of DORSZ, Gen. Bronisław Kwiatkowski, a erstwhile operational commander who died in the Smolensk disaster on April 10, 2010. At the grave of Gen. Kwiatkowski at the Salwatorski Cemetery in Kraków, General Adam Joks, Commander of 2nd Polish Corps – Command of the Land Component, lit a fire.

The Operations Command of Types of Armed Forces plans and conducts combined, peaceful, rescue, humanitarian operations and actions to prevent or destruct acts of panic in and outside the country. He besides coordinates the participation of Polish military contingents in NATO missions, the United Nations, the European Union and coalition operations worldwide.

DORSZ besides protects air borders and supports Border defender in the protection of marine areas. During the military crisis and war, he is liable for preparing the command post of the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces. presently he commands soldiers forming the PKW in: Iraq, Romania, Turkey, Latvia, the Baltic States (PKW Orlik), Lebanon, Central African Republic, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and the Baltic Sea (PKW Noteć).
