The Chief of the Navy toured the bridge Orka

In November, the Council of Ministers indicated [Sweden](https://defence24.pl/defence-policy/polak-swed-two-brothers-orka-to-just-start-opinion) as the first choice in the Orka programme. This enabled the Ministry of National Defence to open negotiations with Stockholm and the shipyard [Saab Kockums](https://defence24.pl/industry/pgz-i-saab-enforcement-partnership-new-stage-industry) on the acquisition of 3 submarines of the fresh kind (OPNT) to the Polish Navy. In mid-December, the heads of the Ministry of Defence of Poland and Sweden signed [Polish-Swedish Memorandum of Understanding](https://defence24.pl/defence-defence-policy/orka-ru-polsko-swedish-contract-signed) in connection with Orka's programme. In mid-March, King Charles XVI Gustav, together with a government delegation, will pay a state visit to Poland.
