Small and medium-sized companies in Poland are increasingly accelerating digital transformation by investing in cloud and fresh technologies. However, in key areas specified as artificial intelligence or data analysts, they inactive lag behind the EU average. Experts emphasize that without intensive support and elimination of barriers Poland will not make up for the distance to European leaders.

Digital gap towards the EU
According to the report, the European Commission Digital Decade 2024 shows that only 3.7% of Polish SMEs implemented AI-based solutions (at 8% in the EU) and 19.3% usage data analytics (compared to 33.2% in the EU). Poland only occupies 23.–25th place in the DESI index, which shows the request to accelerate transformation.
Lack of strategy and competence
Many companies invest in single technologies alternatively of building a comprehensive digital strategy. There is besides a deficiency of investment in worker competence, strategy integration and security, which limits the effects of change.
Growing awareness of change
57-61% of companies consider digitalisation essential and recognise the request for training. Organisations specified as the OECD and the European Commission urge grant programmes, consultations and educational actions to support the digitisation of SMEs.
