The vast majority of Russians agree to limit their material needs in the name of “the defence of the country”, show the results of a survey conducted by the authoritative Russian Public Opinion investigation Centre (CCIOM).
According to the October survey, up to 69% of respondents anticipate that the needs of national safety may require a sacrifice of a material standard of living.
The worsening economical crisis has not so far changed the attitude of Russians to the authorities of the country. Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, the overall increase in inflation has exceeded 40%. As a result, 58% of respondents stated that they deliberately gave up certain goods they had purchased earlier.
The Kremlin besides promotes narratives about the unity of authorities and people. He claims that the Russian "overwhelming majority" is consolidated around president Vladimir Putin.
