The British “The Telegraph” states, citing the Polish Border Guard, that the changes in the mobilization regulations in Ukraine influenced the departures of young men. After the Russian invasion in 2022, martial law prevented men aged 18–60 from leaving the country. In August, the mobilization law was softened – the lower limit of the conscription age was lowered from 27 to 25 years and it was possible to leave, with the hope that young Ukrainians would return to the country and volunteer to fight later and besides to halt families from sending underage children abroad.

The Polish Border defender informs that from January to the end of August, about 45,3 1000 Ukrainian men aged 18-22 arrived in Poland. This was just before the mobilization regulations changed. Over the next 2 months, this number has more than doubled, reaching 98,000, which means an average of about 1.6 1000 people a day.

According to many centres, since February 24, 2022, the beginning of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, over 200,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died in 3 years of war. Although Russia's losses are now greater than Ukraine, the number of those who died on the side of Kiev inactive shows the tremendous cost the country incurs in defending its territory.

Germany divided

According to the German media, the number of young Ukrainians arriving in Germany increased from respective twelve people per week to around 1,000 by mid-September, and by mid-October reached 1.4–1,8,000 per week. The Bavarian Prime Minister, Markus Söder, stressed in an interview with “Bilda” that the influx of young men from Ukraine must be controlled and clearly reduced. He besides added that the EU and the German authorities should put force on Kiev to change the softened rules on departures again.

If this case is not resolved voluntarily, the EU will gotta reduce the massive influx of migrants He warned Söder.

The EU Directive allows EU countries to supply immediate protection to refugees without the request for individual asylum proceedings and besides allows them to work. In June these provisions were extended to 2027, informed the AFP agency. Meanwhile, the right-wing AfD organization calls on the Berlin authorities to halt aiding Ukrainians and opposes further military support for Kiev.
