On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, an unidentified facility was discovered in Komorniki close Poznań, which attracted interest from both local residents and emergency services. Police confirmed the find, and a specialist group of the State Fire Department was directed to the site in order to exclude possible threat. It is assumed that the object found may be a fragment of the Falcon 9 rocket, which prompted the service to notify the Polish Space Agency (POLSA) of the situation.

On the same day, just before 5 a.m., residents of various regions of Poland observed an extraordinary phenomenon in the sky resembling a meteor shower. As astronomer Karol Wójcicki explained, these were burning in the atmosphere the remains of the second-degree Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX. This rocket took 2 reflection satellites from Maxar into orbit, and its second phase was deorbited shortly after launch, resulting in spectacular light effects visible over Poland.

Although there is simply a supposition that the object found in Komorniki may be part of the Falcon 9 rocket, experts approach this hypothesis cautiously. The second phase of a rocket usually burns in the atmosphere during deorbitation, and the chance to last any fragments and their fall to the surface of the Earth is small. Therefore, specialists from POLSA and another institutions carefully analyse the find to confirm its origin.
