"Cows for Cars", so unofficially in Brussels, there is talk of a trade agreement with Mercosur countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay), whose signature was pushed by the law of Kaduk in December 2014. Ursula von der Leyen.

Let us add that the finalisation of the negotiations was a pure voluntary act of the head of the EC and was held with the complete omission of key EU bodies specified as the European Commission and the European Parliament, not to mention the associate States that did not even have the honour of providing them with the full content of the agreement. In another words, Ursula von der Leyen has openly presented herself as a lobbyist of the German industry, as it will be the largest beneficiary of the arrangement. Of the EU countries, Germany is Mercosur's largest trading partner with exports of EUR 15.4 billion per year, including automotive, machine, chemical and pharmaceutical products. By comparison, the second in this respect France exports goods to Mercosur for about €8.6 billion. As far as the agri-food sector is concerned, the EU is already importing goods worth €24.1 billion (2024) from South America, while EU exports in this sector were only €3.3 billion. In the event of ratification of the agreement, this disproportion will only increase, severely hitting European and Polish agriculture, which was laid on the altar of German economical selfishness. The German economy has always suffered from imbalances. It is dependent on export, with chronic disregard for home demand. In addition, Germany is inactive a net importer of food, so they considered that the commitment of own (and even more European) agriculture in the name of expanding industrial exports is profitable to them.

Polish agriculture and processing, for which Western Europe is the main outlet, will be peculiarly hard – as much as 74 percent of our food exports will go there. Now national producers will be forced to compete with dumped production originating in countries in confederate America that do not gotta meet advanced and costly European environmental and quality standards. Let us stress that the agri-food sector generates more than 7% of Polish GDP, so it is an absolutely crucial branch of our economy. We are dealing with a strategy of combined vessels: for example, if the production and export of Polish poultry falls (and we are the first poultry exporter in the EU and the 3rd in the world), then the request for feed will besides fall, with consequences for cereal producers.
It is worth giving a fewer words of European hypocrisy on this occasion. On the 1 hand, the EU is forcing, for example, the withdrawal of many plant protection products utilized by the remainder of the planet (especially pesticides), but on the another hand, it has not banned their production in its territory. As a result, European pesticide production is almost entirely exportable, including to Mercosur countries. Now all this chemistry will come back to us like toxic boomerang in their agricultural products. The European authorities are full aware of this, but they are trying to guarantee that this cognition does not penetrate the public, as evidenced by the fresh scandal around German-French tv Arte's three-year-old documentary entitled "Pesticides – European hypocrisy" showing the above-mentioned practice in Brazil. It shows that as many as 3669 different pesticides are acceptable in Brazil, a large part of which comes from Europe. Only in 2018 European producers exported 80,000 tonnes of pesticides banned in Europe and produced in Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, large Britain, the Netherlands and Italy. Primy is led by companies specified as Swiss Syngenta, as well as German BASF and Bayer, thus contributing to the increase in agritoxicity of South American agriculture. Now the interesting thing is, this video has been removed from the Internet. Apparently, the public media mission is 1 thing, but the interests of the large industry, especially German, stay “über alles”.

Another thing: in fresh years, the European Union has been pushing agricultural policy “from field to table” in Green Deal. It aimed at reducing supply chains and minimising the carbon footprint of food products so that good quality local products could scope European consumers as far as possible. How does this relate to the mass import of food from outside the ocean, whose transport generates a immense carbon footprint and produced with a powerful share of banned chemistry in Europe? It turns out that the "field to table" programme needs to be supplemented: from Brazilian field to European table. And a small bit: the Mercosur countries are a powerful recipient of Russian fertilizers, thus supporting the Russian economy. In conclusion, “car cows”? No, tox for cars. And we're going to be the consumers' toxins.
