Sławomir Mentzen took the Confederate candidate nomination in the presidential election. The politician clarified any issues.

By the decision of the Confederate Leaders Council, the president of the fresh Hope Sławomir Mentzen will be a candidate for the group in the election for president of the Republic of Poland in 2025.

On Wednesday, a politician published a message in the social media on this matter. Mentzen, among others, referred to the deficiency of primaries, assured that, contrary to conspiracy theory, he did not endanger the National Movement with a break in the Confederate, and that his election program would be as Confederate as much as possible. The MP besides said how he sees his and Krzysztof Bosak's political future.

Below is the full content of the statement.

Mentzen's statement. Why weren't there primaries?

I thank the Council of Leaders very much for the assurance shown and for deciding that I will be the candidate of the Confederation in the upcoming presidential elections. It's an honor, but it's besides a large responsibility. I realize how much depends on the consequence I have achieved, so I will do everything in my power not to disappoint our constituents.

Many people are disappointed in the deficiency of primaries and RL decision. I get it.

I myself have been a primary supporter for a long time. Unfortunately, in Polish conditions they work much worse than in the USA. The main difference is attendance. The erstwhile Confederate primaries attracted 7,000 voters. As many as 350 voters took part in 9 provincial conventions. In comparison, 35 million people participated in the Democratic primary in the US in 2020 and 31 million people participated in the Republican primary in 2016.

Some 2,500 people voted for Krzysztof Bosak in the primary and 1.3 million votes in the presidential election. With specified a disparity between the number of voters and the number of participants in the primary, they are not a test for who has greater support. They're a test for who has greater organizational abilities. Moreover, specified low attendance facilitates the impact of another parties or another organised groups. It has even come to my attention that any of the biggest political parties have planned to influence the result of our primaries. With their capabilities, unfortunately, this would be rather real.

The primaries besides make another problems. The erstwhile Confederate primarys ended in a break with the Liberals. I've besides tried to do the N.N. primary to decide our ones. In most cities they ran smoothly, but Legnica ended up cheating, brawling, and divisions that proceed until today. Bearing in head the problems that competition between Ewa Zajączkowska and Krystian Kamiński caused in the office and in our structures, we could anticipate that it was only a foretaste of what could have been waiting for us during the primaries. There may have been divisions that could no longer be patched. This would make working together very difficult.

I inactive believe that primaries are something that Polish politics lack. Unfortunately, for many reasons, for which the most crucial reason is very low real interest in participation in them, in Poland they do not work as in the USA, which I regret very much.

Personally, I'm convinced if the primaries had been held, I would have won. I know how many thousands of members my organization has, I know what we've done to the primaries over the last fewer months of preparation, I know how many votes I'd only have from my activists, not counting sympathy. On the another hand, after the primaries on the Internet, we would read that I cheated, bought myself votes, pulled people off on buses. Yeah, I'd drive the NN activists to the towns where the primaries would take place, but what's incorrect with that? That wouldn't be cheating. On the another hand, the very same people who are now questioning the legality of the Confederate authorities would begin to claim that I cheated, and the primaries are invalid, due to the fact that Twitter surveys did not work.

I would definitely alternatively be elected as a candidate after the Leaders Council's decision than after a fewer months of interior combat, accused of counterfeiting and fraud. That way, I can start the run as the first candidate soon, alternatively of waiting six months. The Confederate authorities considered the hazard of primaries to be besides high. I realize the profession of those fewer 1000 of our sympathizers who wanted to participate, but unfortunately it would be a very risky game for the Confederate.

Mentzen: In 5 years Bosak certain second tour

There is inactive a question of the resignation of Krzysztof Bosak. Contrary to the popular conspiracy explanation on Twitter, I did not blackmail him with a divided or by leaving the Confederacy. And I didn't plan to take off on my own in the event of a primary loss. To the end, I proposed that a candidate be selected by RL or primary. Christopher's decision amazed me, I learned about it from the Internet. I think she was very reasonable and mature, showing considerable foresight and patience.

Krzysztof Bosak should be 1 of the most crucial people in the country – president or talker of the Sejm. He's qualified for that, and he's very representative. And I think in those 5 or 10 years Bosak will yet take the right position for himself. But for that to happen, he should not afford another election, in which he is far from the second round. It would be better for him and for all of us if, in 5 years' time, he competes in a presidential election from the position of individual who is very assured of entering a second circular in which he can win, alternatively than individual who has 2 unsuccessful approaches.

Mentzen: If I do not become President, I will be Minister of Finance

What about me? However, if I do not become president in 2025 and everything else goes well, I will be the Minister of Finance by 2030, and I will be very busy in tidying up state finances and completing taxation simplification. Leaving it to run for president would be 1 of the last things that would come to mind.

So I'm moving for the first and possibly the last. I know not everyone's happy about it. I have over 9 months of hard run ahead of me. I'll have plenty of time to effort to convince as many people as possible to my candidacy, both from the Confederate community and from outside. I'm going to put quite a few work, time and energy into it, all my attention will now be focused on achieving the best possible result. This, however, will not be possible without the engagement of leaders, activists, but above all, Confederate sympathizers.

"Electoral program as confederate as possible"

The vote will not be held until May. For now, it is not even known what another candidates will be like. I don't anticipate anyone to support me blindly before the election run starts. Each voter makes his own decisions, depending on the election program, the image of the candidate or a completely different criterion, for which he will vote. If any Confederate voters consider that they like to vote for PiS or PO candidates, then of course they have the right to do so. But let them not be amazed that in Poland nothing inactive changes. For my part, I can promise that Confederate voters will have no problem distinguishing me from PiS and PO candidates, and my election program will be as Confederate as possible.

We stand on the same side, we all want Poland to be strong, rich and safe, for Poles to be hosts in their territory, and for no 1 to tell us what to think, tell us and how to live. Against us are the largest political parties, global corporations and the media. We're besides weak to fight each another again alternatively of just them.

I'm going on the election tour soon, I hope to see you on it!
