Ministry of National Education introduces cyclical actions against peer force in Polish schools. On Monday, Minister Barbara Nowack and Deputy Minister Paulina Piechna-Wyżekiewicz announced a nationwide initiative covering peculiar educational weeks.
Nowacka stressed that the state cannot be passive towards the regular dramas of thousands of young haters. "Today is 1 of the biggest challenges the school faces, 1 of the biggest problems young people face" - added the minister.
Two types of educational initiatives
In kindergartens there will be "Week about building relationships", and in schools and educational institutions "Week about combating the force of peers". Events will become cyclical and will be held each year at the turn of September and October.
"Teachers have all the competence to talk to young people" - assessed Nowack. Deputy Minister Piechna-Wyżekiewicz explained that the choice of the word is not accidental - it is the minute erstwhile children and teenagers begin further school stages.
Key minute for peer relationships
"This is the minute where bonds begin to become clearer, the peer group forms" - explained the deputy minister. She added that it was a critical time erstwhile all of us occupy certain places in the group and there may be peer violence.
The Ministry besides prepared a pact to combat peer violence. It is to be signed by all parties crucial for the functioning of the school - teachers, trade unions, local governments, NGOs and parliamentarians.
Working meetings planned
On Wednesday, an inter-ministerial gathering will be held in MEN to combat peer violence. On Friday, talks were scheduled with trade unions, NGOs and school heads.
