Prior to the loud Alaska summit, Melania Trump wrote to the Russian president a "peaceful letter" in which she appealed for the bad impact of the war on defenceless children. During a press conference organized during the Vladimir Putin summit, he admitted that if Donald Trump ruled in 2022, the war in Ukraine would most likely not have happened. He besides stressed that in order to suspend the weapon, it is essential to remove "all basic sources, the main causes of this conflict". Speaking of a possible ceasefire in Ukraine, he stated that after talking to Trump he was 1 step closer.
