In the main Iranian gas plant, located in Bandar Kangan on the Persian Gulf, there was a fire on Wednesday as a consequence of the attack of the United States and Israel," reported Iranian state television.

"A fewer moments ago, any of the gas plants (South Pars refinery, located in the port city of Bandar Kangan in the south of Iran) were hit by missiles from an American-Zionist enemy," reported Iranian television, quoting Deputy politician of the Buszehr Province.

It was added that a fire department was sent to the scene.

As reminded by AFP, the vast deposits of South Pars/North Houses are the largest known gas deposits in the world, shared by Iran with Qatar. It provides about 70% of natural gas consumed by Iran, which has been operating it since the late 1990s.

According to government figures in Tehran, in 2025 regular gas production in the South Pars refinery reached a evidence level of 730 million cubic metres.
