His real name was Maxim Boroweć (1908-1981), but he went to past as Taras Bulba, a mythical figure taken from the literature of Michał Gogol. He came from Volyn, dreamt of free Ukraine, founded the Polish Sicz during the war, from which the Ukrainian Povs Dance Army was created.
But it wasn't an ominous flag UPA. This name, Bulbie, was stolen by the flagmen, and the name UPA was disgraced by genocide in Poles. Today, in modern Ukraine, no 1 places monuments like Bandera, Klaczkowska or Szuchewycz. No 1 remembers Bulb due to the fact that OUN Bandery considered him a traitor and a loser. Conspiracy of silence has yet another fundamental reason – Bulba in 1943 opposed the OUN murderers (b), calling them straight criminals. So he is not only an enemy of the bander but besides a kind of remorse.
Maxim Boroweć was alternatively an uncomplicated personality, connected in the 1930s with the Petlurov movement, but treated the CNS as an crucial component of the Ukrainian independency camp. He had hopes for Germany, as did most nationalists. erstwhile the Soviet-German war broke out, it became active in the fight against the Red Army marauders, and then founded the Poleszka Sicz on Polesiu, which over time controlled the full northern Volyn. However, Germany did not request specified an ally, and the politician Erich Koch even hated them, according to Hitler's racial policy.
Yes, Bulba had friends in the wheels of Abwehr and Wehrmacht, but that's not enough. As it shortly turned out, Germany and the Soviets were not a deadly threat to Bulba, but to the bander. The CNS (b) did not grow roots in Volyn until 1942. He first tried to subdue the bulbs, and erstwhile he encountered resistance, he started hunting their boss, or Borowecia. A large part of his people simply went to the bander side, Bulba himself with the staff sneaking out to banders until 1 day he fell into a trap – he escaped himself, but his wife, Czeszk, of origin, got into the hands of enemies. She didn't make it out alive. Despite these experiences, Bulba never opposed the banderos armedly – he did not want to initiate brotherly battles between Ukrainians. However, he decided to powerfully protest mass murders in Poles – he wrote 2 letters open to the leaders of the CNS (b). Today, these letters are an crucial evidence incriminating UPA and CNS (b).
Yes, Bulba was not a friend of Poles, he wanted the Ukrainian Volyn, but he retained something that the banderos lacked – human feelings. Viktor Liszczuk In his books he gives Bulbie the best reviews. Edward Prussia He was not so enthusiastic, but he does not condemn the Polesian warlord. However, he wrote about the erstwhile bulldozers being incarnated, or voluntarily subdued the ranks of the banner UPA. Many border relations repeat the opinion that villages were attacked by "bubblers", although they were actually banders. Today, however, it does not matter, it is crucial that Taras Bulba was removed from the Ukrainian pantheon of heroes (maybe that's good, due to the fact that it would not fit Bandera or Szuchewych, whom he condemned), due to the fact that it is like a remorse, and his letters open to the management of the OUN-Bandery confirm all allegations that the Polish side has made and puts UPA and its leaders. This is all the more crucial due to the fact that at the same time, in the summertime of 1943, the press authorities of the KG of the AK argued that what is happening in Volyn was "Soviet provocation".
In the historical hoax presently performed by the OUN-UPA heirs, they frequently mention to the papers they choose to convince us of the "good intentions" of this organization. A classical example is the book Romana Drozda "Ukrainian Povs Dance Army – papers – Structures". We will not find 2 very crucial papers incriminating the CNS. These are 2 letters from Taras Bulby-Borovcia. In 1943, he wrote 2 letters to the CNS-Bandera management. 1 was published in the “Uzrodina Oboron” dated 10 August 1943, the another is dated 24 September 1943.
Both letters are a devastating charge of the CNS-Banders, the more crucial that a man issued by him, who knew described events from the autopsy and conducted direct talks with the banners. Both letters, in the full version, are published in the book by Viktor Poliszczuk entitled “Ukrainian Nationalism in Documents” (Part II):
Here are the most crucial passages of both letters:
“At the time of the talks, alternatively of acting in accordance with the jointly outlined line, the OUN military troops, under the UPA brand, in addition to being ordered by Bulba, began to destruct Polish civilians and another national minorities in a shameful way... In the Sarne territory of Yours, the Bereznica men trickfully disarmed our troops, picked them up and burned all the literature, and the people of the ward long agitated to transition to their side, and erstwhile they refused, they decided to shoot them. Only a random attack of the Bolsheviks in the village of Berwiatnica and a wreck of your squad saved the lives of these people... All of this is explained by the fact that, they say, any Polesic peasant Bulba “breaks out” from discipline, declared ataman and wants to be the leader of all Ukraine, while herself Providence has only appointed Stepan Bandera for this place. Comrade nationalists! How can you not be ashamed and where is your national morality and dignity that you tolerate specified crimes and operate by specified methods? ...

Maxim Boroweć (Taras Bulba) with her wife murdered by OUN Bandery
You talk at all turn of the essential request for unity in the Ukrainian people, and indeed you search to accomplish this unity not by bringing together all the forces of the nation on the basis of common agreement and respect for the political beliefs of another fellow citizens, only by subjugating everyone and the dictatorship of 1 party... No organization can have a monopoly on the Ukrainian people. A fight for a full government is possible erstwhile it has the right ground in the field. And erstwhile there is no land and it is extended, then it anarchys the life of the nation and all specified an effort during the war is nothing but a national crime, for there is simply a predominance of individual ambition over the interests of the general public.
Can a actual revolutionist-stateist submit to the leadership of a organization that begins with the slaughter of national minorities and the insane burning of their homes? Ukraine has more dangerous enemies than Poles. all kid knows that the demolition of respective 100 Poles in any circuits will not destruct the Polish danger to Ukraine. The Polish nation exists anyway, and as long as it is in the same captivity as we, it will not be our enemy and an ally after the circumstances. What intentions can Poles have towards us in the future and how our relations will work – that's another thing. Today, alternatively of killing each other, we must mount a single revolutionary front of all nations enslaved against the occupiers alternatively than creating unnecessary fronts for ourselves" (from a letter published on 10 August 1943)

Terrace Bulba in 1941
And a fragment of the second letter:
"Unfortunately, we can no longer go to work with you for the following reasons:
– In your “diplomacy” you do not follow the rules of revolutionary ethics, say 1 thing and do another. You take on alien slogans and concepts. All your propaganda comes down to a general lie and does not take the dirtiest measures;
– You are usurping the right to sovereign Ukrainian state power, to which, as 1 of many political groups, you have no basis;
– You proclaim your “government” unthinkingly – erstwhile and where it has fallen, and you insult and profane the majesty of the Ukrainian state;
– Your “power” is acting in the field, not like a folk revolutionary power, but like an average band. You, alternatively of fighting anarchy, spread it yourself through your shameful conduct, which comes down to the barbarous execution of defenseless women and children from among national minorities, smoking and looting property, which brings eternal disgrace to the full Ukrainian nation, You increase this anarchy;
– You have already started a devastating fratricidal conflict today, due to the fact that you do not want to fight with the full working Ukrainian nation for its liberation, you are already fighting for its power. Beating and shooting Ukrainian peasants, smoking and robbing their property became your regular occupation...
– alternatively of integrating the Ukrainian people into a common revolutionary bloc of all the enslaved cultures of Europe and Asia, You with your “revolutionary heroic acts” have led to the fact that present no 1 wants to talk to Ukrainians. Through you, the cultural planet treats Ukrainians not like people who fight for their country through revolution, but like degenerate barbarians and average bandits.
It is clear, therefore, that under specified circumstances the Ukrainian National Revolutionary Army, as a centre of an honest military-revolutionary conflict for an independent democratic Ukrainian state, cannot only submit to specified a "leadership" as yours, but has no right to treat you as a political partner at all. Who deals with banditism, is treated as a bandit ... The blood of your fallen and wounded revolutionaries and the tears of your “power” of the population will fall eternally on the CNS-Banders, “Ruban” and Ryszard Jarego [“Ruban” – the nickname of Stepan Bandery, Riko Jara – Germany, associate of the OUN-Bandra leadership – ed.]. Revolution, gentlemen, is not anarchical hula with arms in hand—it is simply a knightly-ascetic effort and sacrifice for the nation” (from a letter of September 24, 1943)
Jan Engelgard
PS. I do not agree with these voices that recalling Bulby's certificate is any kind of "rehabilitation" or "glorification". It's not that, it's that we have a crushing origin in our hands that says unification of the crimes of OUN Bandera, and it's a origin not a friend of Poland, but a Ukrainian who knew precisely what was happening in Volyn, and who was doing the crimes. On the subject of Bulba and his 1943 protest there is grave silence in Ukraine. I don't think we care about Poland either.
