In the past of the Polish nation, the rosary prayer played a large role. Poles frequently had the chance to find that the persistent, assured refusal of the rosary was an irreplaceable aid and a certain rescue in even the most hard situation. This fact was emphasized by the Holy Father John Paul II in his paper Rosarium Virginis Mariae: "The church has always recognized the peculiar effectiveness of this prayer, entrusting it with the most hard matters. In moments erstwhile Christianity itself was at risk, the power of this prayer was attributed to saving from danger, and the Rosary parent worshiped as the 1 who had made salvation."
The power of this prayer was seen, among another things, in the moral revival which took place after the apparitions of Our woman in the second half of the 19th century in Gietrzwald in Warmia. During the time of the debauched Germanization of the Polish lands in the Prussian partition, erstwhile the fight against Polishness gained strength, The Blessed Virgin called on the local people to recite the rosary. This fruit was shortly revealed. As Gietrzwałd's parish priest recounted later, the witness of the apparitions: "Among all those who talk Polish, joyful advancement is made especially by the zeal for prayer and the Brotherhood of Temperance. Millions pray for the rosary, which makes them firm in the Catholic faith, and a immense number of drunkards have been torn from the present and eternal destruction. To this should be added the purity of life that can be observed among young people, many spiritual vocations of men and women, various conversions and conversions, and frequent accession to the sacraments of saints. Throughout Warmia, almost in all homes, the rosary is collectively denied".
The apparitions of Our woman on Warmian dirt thus caused a spiritual renewal of the inhabitants of these areas and started akin changes in another regions of Poland, and besides became the basis for our country's regaining independence.
The sovereignty of Poland, restored with the end of the First planet War, after many years of captivity, was seriously threatened in 1920, erstwhile our homeland experienced the attack of a powerful Bolshevik army. The event was commemorated under the name "the miracle over the Vistula", due to the fact that in fact only in terms of miracle can they be considered. It is adequate to mention that in front of the russian power (12th Infantry Division and 2nd Driving Divisions) only 3 and a half divisions of Polish Infantry and respective tiny troops stood. The result of the confrontation seemed predestined? Germany was besides waiting for the Bolsheviks to win, for which winning Warsaw was to become a motto to separate Gdańsk and advanced Silesia.
The Bolshevik troops were rapidly approaching the capital. The troubled Warsawists began to fill the temples crowdedly; it was decreed that the Most Holy Sacrament would be erected in all churches from 6 to 14 August, while about 30,000 women, children and aged people would pray fervently on the rosary in Castle Square. It was encouraging to 1 another, recalling the words that the young Warsaw catechet, Fr Ignacy Skorupka, said on 31 July: "Don't worry, God and parent of God Częstochowa, Queen of the Polish Crown, will not leave us? There will be a victory. The day is near! It will not pass on 15 August, the day of Our woman of Herb, and the enemy will be beaten." But the sounds of the conflict that was going on from the distance?
The fight warmed up for good at night from 13 to 14 August. Fr Skorupka, who carried a cross raised advanced above his head, encouraged the religion of Polish soldiers and gave them an example of bravery and courage, until he was hit in the head with a shrapnel of a bullet. His highly self-sacrificing attitude and heroic death were perceived by Poles as a powerful, supernatural impulse, which had a large influence on the spirit of the nation and troops, and contributed to the fact that on August 15, 1920, on the feast of the presumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the power of the enemy broke down and the announced triumph of the Polish weapon over the powerful Bolshevik army became a fact.
One of the participants of the 1920 Warsaw Battle, Fr Stanisław Tworkowski, summarized these dramatic events as follows: "The Miracle of the Vistula is the work of God's Providence, in which his efforts were incorporated by my nation, a believing nation, a nation calling upon God, loving him? It was a fight in the name of Jesus Christ, in the name of the Holy Cross. The symbol of this is our Catholic chaplain ? Fr Ignacy Skorupka, who with a cross in his hand ran in a tyralier close Ossow. (?) The secret of the Miracle on the Vistula River is the prayer of the people of Warsaw in Castle Square? The course of fighting the overwhelming forces of the Bolsheviks and repelling them on the feast of the presumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary".
Also the second half of the 20th century abounded in Marian apparitions, during which Our woman pointed out the large request for rosary prayer, including in the family. Not all of these revelations have been officially confirmed by the church authorities, but each 1 is closely observed and in many cases the blessed spiritual fruits they have brought were recognized. So let us effort briefly to describe any of them, most likely little known to the Polish reader.
In 1980, in Cuapa, Nigeria, villager Bernard Martinez, who asked the Blessed Virgin about her wishes, received the following reply: "I want you to say the rosary all day." A small later, Our woman added: "In the family, together with the children ? from the minute they were able to understand. You gotta say the rosary at a fixed hour, after finishing homework". Another day of apparitions Our woman added: "Resent the rosary, meditate on mysteries, perceive to God's word contained in mysteries." Revelations in Cuba have not yet been officially recognized, but the local bishop encouraged the faithful to consider and realize Mary's message.
Since 1983, the apparitions at Campito, Argentina, received by Gladys Quiroda de Mota, are straight watched by Bishop Castagna, who carefully traces the improvement of worship at the place of revelations and finds their large spiritual fruits. On June 6, 1987, erstwhile planet tv broadcast the rosary with Pope John Paul II, Our woman told the visionary: "Today the Lord will perceive to the rosary of the saint as if it were denied in my voice."
In both officially recognized apparitions in Naju, Korea (half of the 1980s) Our woman gave the following message: "Resent with the zeal of the rosary, in the intention of peace in the planet and for the conversion of sinners. effort to make her household holy."
And so that our trust in the power of the Rosary may proceed to grow, so that we may become more and more aware of its beauty, let us pray as frequently as possible with the words of the appeal of Blessed Bartolomea Longo: "O blessed rosary of Mary, the sweet chain which unites us with God, the bond of love which unites us with angels; the tower of salvation from the attack of hell; the safe harbor in the sea crash! We'll never abandon you again. You'll be a comfort to us in the hr of dying. You have the last kiss of a dying life. And the last accent of our lips will be thy sweet name, O Queen of the Rosary, O parent our dear, O Flee of sinners, O Lord, Comforter of the troubled. Be blessed everywhere, present and always, on earth and in heaven."
Thus the rosary, directing our gaze toward Christ, besides makes us peacemakers in the world. Having the character of continuous, joint supplication, in accord with Christ's call to pray always and not to give up? (cf. Lk 18, 1), it allows you to hope that present besides the fight? As hard as the 1 who comes for peace can be victorious. A Rosary, far from being a refuge from the world’s problems, prompts us to look at them with liable and long - suffering eyes, and removes our strength to return to them with certainty as to God’s aid and with a strong resolve to bear witness to love in all circumstances, which is the bond of perfection? (Col 3, 14). (?)
I look at all of you, Brothers and Sisters of all states, upon you, Christian families, upon you, sick and old, upon you, young: take again the crown of the Rosary, rediscovering it in the light of the Holy Scriptures, in harmony with the liturgy, in the context of everyday life. (?) Rosary prayer is simply a large aid to our time. It brings peace and conscience; it brings our lives into the mysteries of God and brings God to our lives."
