Liberalism did not have large happiness in the 3rd Republic for representatives in active political life. There were many politicians close to him with large names and tremendous merits, but they all went a small distance, had eclectic views and said the thought of freedom “yes, but...”. Marcin Święcicki is simply a liberal alleged full mouth
Liberalism is for many a monster painted with bright paint on the barrier according to the tastes and superstitions of the author of the painting. He is very frequently accused of immorality, or alternatively of immorality, as he claims that "all things are allowed," everything is "equally good" or "there is no good and evil." The charge of deficiency of rules is naturally raised by defenders of alleged conventional values, who put all freedom of making life choices by an independent man on a shelf with the inscription “relativism”. But inhuman coldness is besides accused of liberals by alleged social justice, suggesting that liberalism approves of turning its back on a man in need.
The reader “Liberté!” does not request to be convinced that this is simply a vicious nonsense for the underoriented. In support of the defence of the good name of liberalism, as an thought based as much on strong moral foundations as possible, we now gain a solid tool in the form of Marcin Święcicki's book, Minister for economical Cooperation with abroad Affairs in the Government of Tadeusz Mazowiecki, president of Warsaw from 1994 to 1999 and Deputy Minister of Economy in the Government of Jerzy Buzek.
This book is simply a collection of very many public texts and reports from works led by the Author of the institution, who is simply a factual study on almost 4 decades of his activity in public life. The oldest texts date back to the mid-1980s, erstwhile young Świętcki inactive believed in the anticipation of reforming the failing Polish economy, and the latest are a fewer months ago, erstwhile we have an experienced politician who can look at his political biography, intellectual achievements and a full series of life-tested forecasts with satisfaction.
Leszek Balcerowicz erstwhile said that in criticism of capitalism in capitalism 1 can make good money, and for criticism of socialism in socialism 1 can ask for serious poverty. The second requires courage. For this reason, it is worth grasping the collection of Saints to read how in 1987 it exposes the hopeless weaknesses of the centrally planned economy (and this in the pages of the People's Tribunes!). In addition, the past of working in the Mazovia government is fascinating, erstwhile the author simply "took Russians out of his way" on repayment of debts to the USSR. This is peculiarly satisfying in the light of our feelings towards Moscow present and it is amazing that St.
The following chapters at the same time show the author's individual path, as well as the next major challenges faced by the 3rd Poland from the 1990s to the modern period. So we will read about the difficulties of the political transformation and the recovery of the Polish economy, about the formation of the constitutional order of modern Poland, about gradual withdrawal from poverty, preparation of the country for accession to the European Union and about Poland entering into discussions about the future of the Union, in the end of course about Ukraine and geopolitical threat, which hangs first over it, but then besides over us, about Warsaw, about Polish-Jewish relations, about hard dialog with the right, yet about LGBT rights and moral changes.
Many views of Święcicki are of course celebrated and unexpected returns of the action cannot be here. It is simply a long-standing and well-thought-out politician, and in addition a very rational and completely balanced personality (which is not apparent in Polish politics). It is so known that in its texts there will be support for the transition towards a free marketplace economy, for low taxes and privatisation, for the 1997 Constitution, for the entry of Poland to NATO and the EU, for the deep European integration towards the construction of a national state in the average term, for the European and Atlantic position for Ukraine and for the maximum support of this country in the clash with Russian aggression, for extremist sanctions against Russia, for the promotion of democratic ambitions in all another countries of east Europe and in the Caucasus, for strong and independent local governments, for the integrity and openness in Polish-Jewish relations, for close Polish-German cooperation and for the Polish-American alliance, for liberal reforms in relation to the private sphere of life of Poles and Poles, i.e. for partnerships or liberalisation of the law on abortion, but at the same time for good and friendly relations of the Polish state with the Catholic Church, a bond with which the author repeatedly declares on the pages of the book.
Several times, however, St. erstwhile he writes about the request to destruct the EU's Common Agricultural Policy, to set up a common EU Army as an additional army, independent of the associate States' troops, erstwhile he cites his proposals for sanctions on imports of energy carriers from Russia after 2014 (!), erstwhile he warns Europe of the imminent danger of losing east, erstwhile he outlines his concept of a fair taxation strategy with a multiplicable free amount, dependent on the number of people in the household, erstwhile 1 after the another puts forward arguments against adopting the euro. These are the unheard advices, accurate forecasts and ambitious programme proposals, where we can regret that the Prime Ministers of Poland were Pawlak, Oleksy, Marcinkiewicz, Szydło and Morawiecki, not the Author.
The book Święcicki is long, but it is not mandatory to read it at erstwhile or from cover to cover. Readably divided into thematic ranges is friendly to the recipient. It allows him to choose a subject or an era in the improvement of the 3rd Poland, on which he mainly wants to focus. another texts can be returned after a fewer months or even a year, and inactive hold their value. Liberalism did not have large happiness in the 3rd Republic for representatives in active political life. There were many politicians close to him with large names and tremendous merits, but they all went a small distance, had eclectic views and said the thought of freedom “yes, but...”. Marcin Święcicki is simply a liberal of the alleged full mouth, and his public works are excellent. It's worth getting to know.
