Information Agency: The European Union-Mercosur Agreement has been negotiating for 25 years since 2000. Its participants are Commonwealth States and selected South American States. This created the largest free trade region in the world. The agreement, called “Cow for Cars”, is controversial. Polish farmers are convinced that the competition of large American agricultural corporations, which are not limited by restrictive regulations, concerning production and farming, will destruct agriculture in Poland. The agreement was besides concluded in violation of European lawmaking procedures. Reservations to the European Union-Mercosur Agreement
The European Commission is acting illegally on a trade agreement with Mercosour and has overstepped its competence, as many politicians in Europe believe. It has already been announced that this agreement has been appealed to the Court of Justice of the European Union. First of all, The procedure for ratification of the agreement, which was adopted by the European Commission erstwhile approving the Mercosur agreementand secondly non-compliance with the Treaty itself. On 14 January 2026, it appears from the intervention of Mr Krzysztof Mulawa of the Confederation, that no work is being carried out in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister or in any of the ministries to prepare a complaint to the Court of Justice of the European Union on the EU-Mercosur agreement.
