At the Military Center for Medical Training in Łódź, the second edition of the training of the Medical Legion ended. Rescuers, nurses, and doctors from civilians learned to shoot, give first aid on the battlefield, and conduct evacuations from the area of emergency. “The challenge was, for example, to supply a gunshot wound in hard combat conditions,” says 1 of the course participants.

The authoritative military oath ended with the training of Medical Legion medics in Łódź. Before that, however, everyone had to undergo intense polygon exercises prepared under 1 of the 10 paths, entitled "Not only Hippocrates". It allows people from the civilian medical community to gain basic military training. "This is another step in building the interoperability of the civilian medical environment with the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and maintaining readiness to support the strategy of wellness and safety protection of the state," emphasised Colonel Dr. inż. Jacek Narloch, Commandant Military Center for Medical Education.

Several medics entered the Łódź WCKMed, who began training on July 22. Rescuers, nurses, and doctors spent 9 days honing their skills and gaining cognition in the field Field medicine, developing the competences essential to act in crisis situations. The program included training from subsequent stages of medical evacuation from the war area, elements of field medicine, and the usage of weapons and shooting.

The instructors arranged the field of action so that it would render the conditions of the real battlefield as accurately as possible. Medicalians worked in trenches, and they had the chance to organize evacuation by military helicopter. They treated extended injuries, covered massive hemorrhages, conducted medical procedures at a medical facility of level 1 and 2, learned to carry out alleged extended care of the injured in combat conditions to keep him alive for a long time.

Martyna Imiłowska of Toruń is simply a master of nursing and a dental student at the Jagiellonian University. She volunteered for training because, as she says, she wanted to test herself in the conditions closest to the real battlefield. – I was most impressed by the realism of the prepared scenarios. What we know from explanation and textbooks, here we could practice almost 100%. This experience has shown me how crucial responsibility, mastery and, above all, teamwork are – he says. She adds that she is convinced to proceed her professional career with the military.

Prime Minister Mariusz Kuźniak, head of the WCKMed Department of Education, emphasises that the training is based on experiences arising from contemporary conflicts, and in peculiar from the war in Ukraine, both in military, civilian and strategical contexts. As he points out, the primary nonsubjective is to increase the chances of surviving the injured.

The Medical Legion is an initiative in which a registration platform for volunteers from the medical sector is established. The army trains them, among others, from the field of combat medicine and creates regional preparedness centers in the areas of medical safety of troops.

First medical course prepared by WCKMed It was held in Łódź in April. It was besides developed as part of the "Not only Hippocrates" path, which allows civilians to gain basic military training. Further training paths for the Legion candidates cover various areas of military-civil cooperation. Not all of them affect joining the army, specified as the “Service without Uniform” cycle. It's a class designed for people who don't plan on becoming soldiers, but want to follow the Legion's improvement and possibly in the future support its actions.

As part of the remaining paths, 1 can, among others, engage in the opinion and analysis of military medicine solutions, study readiness for medical assistance during non-military disasters and threats in the country or on abroad missions.
