Cuba: The 5th crew associate of a shelled American boat died

The Cuban authorities announced that as a consequence of the injuries, 1 of the crew members of the U.S. motorboat shot at the end of February in the Cuban waters by the local border defender died. This means that the balance of the victims of the incidental has increased to five.

According to the government in Havana, a U.S.-registered motorboat entered Cuban waters on February 25, and its crew opened fire on the Cuban patrol. The authorities assessed that these activities were intended to ‘infiltration for terrorist purposes’.

MSW Cuba announced, on board the motorboat there were 10 Cubans permanently surviving in the United States. Rifles, short arms, Molotov cocktails and bulletproof vests were found on the boat – the Cuban hotel claimed.

The portal Axios reported, citing representatives of the U.S. authorities that the motorboat had been stolen in Florida and on board were American citizens.

The incidental occurred during the expanding tensions between the United States and Cuba. Following the overthrow of Venezuelan leaders Nicolas Maduro, US president Donald Trump's administration seeks to cut oil supply to Cuba, which is almost entirely dependent on fuel imports.

Oil shortages further aggravated the economical crisis in Cuba. The island lacks electricity, food and another essential goods. According to commentators, U.S. force is aimed at bringing down the communist government in Havana.
